ABOUT THE AI & ML WEEK CELEBRATION

IIMT, Bhubaneswar is celebrating AI & ML Week during 1st Week of November, 2026 to explore innovation, digital excellence and future-ready skills among students by considering the rapidly evolving technological landscape. The celebration aims to create awareness about the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning across engineering, management, healthcare, finance, education, and other emerging industries. Through expert talks, hands-on workshops, competitions, and interactive learning sessions, students will gain practical exposure to cutting-edge AI technologies and real-world applications. The initiative encourages young minds to develop problem-solving abilities, creativity, and research-oriented thinking essential for the digital economy. It also provides a platform for industry-academia interaction, enabling students to understand current trends and future career opportunities in AI-driven domains. By celebrating AI & ML Week, IIMT reaffirms its commitment to nurturing technologically competent and ethically responsible professionals. The event reflects the institute's vision of empowering students with the knowledge and confidence to become innovators and leaders in the era of intelligent technologies.

As part of the AI & ML Week celebrations, we are organizing a STUDENT DEBATE COMPETITION throughout the state of Odisha on the topic: “IS GOVERNANCE REQUIRED FOR AI OR NOT?” among +2 and +3 students.

PANEL OF JURRIES

The competition will be conducted in the presence of a panel of judges, comprising of 2/3 faculty members nominated by the participant institute/Department and One faculty representative from IIMT, Bhubaneswar. The evaluation criteria shall be shared with Participant Institute in due course of time.

As a token of appreciation and encouragement: • The two best-performing students will be awarded Certificates and Prizes.
• The Winner and Runner-up of the competition will be invited to participate in the Grand Finale, which will be organized at IIMT Campus, Bhubaneswar, during the 1st week of November 2026.
• The Winner and Runner-up will be provided Travelling Allowance (TA) as per applicable BPUT norms, subject to the applicable rules and conditions.

A Placement Fair will be organised by the Training & Placement Department as part of the AI & ML Week Celebration. The initiative will provide students with opportunities to interact with prospective employers, explore career opportunities, participate in recruitment processes, and understand industry expectations and employment opportunities in technology-driven domains.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

Interscience Institute of Management & Technology (IIMT), Bhubaneswar, established in 2007 by a team of dedicated academicians with the vision of imparting all-round education in the fields of Management and Technology. The Institute offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including B.Tech., M.Tech., MBA, and MCA. IIMT is approved by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML) was established in the year 2025 under the Leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Rutuparna Panda (Retd. Professor from VSSUT, Burla), Professor & HOD, Department of Computer Sciences & Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning). Department of AI & ML serves as a platform for nurturing aspiring professionals equipped to excel in diverse industries driven by emerging AI technologies. It focuses on advancing the core principles of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Software Engineering, fostering intellectual growth among students and promoting impactful research.

As part of its academic and research initiatives, the Department is publishing the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence Governance and Human Rights under the Editorship of Prof. (Dr.) Srikanta Patnaik, who serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal.
