Prof. (Dr.) Jayadev Kar
Excellencies, distinguished guests, and fellow citizens of the world,
We gather today at a unique moment in history. As we move deeper into 2026, the world is witnessing a transformation unlike any before. We are surrounded by the incredible potential of artificial intelligence, the urgency of climate action, and the persistent echoes of global conflict.
In this era of rapid change, the question arises: What remains constant? The answer lies in our Universal Human Values. These are not merely abstract concepts; they are the shared moral compass that ensures our technological and economic progress which does not outpace our humanity.
At the heart of our mission is the recognition that every human being is born free and equal in dignity and rights.
Equality is not a gift: As we have seen in our recent global sessions, equality—especially gender equality—is a right that must be defended every day. It is the engine of sustainable development.
Justice as a Birth right: Whether in the physical world or the digital sphere, justice must remain accessible to all. We cannot allow inequality to harden into poverty.
"Our shared values are the only armour we have against the fragmentation of our societies. When we protect the rights of the most vulnerable, we secure the future of the entire human family."
This year, as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of International Literacy Day, our theme is "Literacy for People, the Planet, and Prosperity." Education is the primary vehicle for transmitting human values. In 2026, literacy means more than just reading and writing; it means digital and ethical literacy. We must ensure that:
AI serves humanity: Technology should be a tool for inclusion, not a weapon for disinformation or division.
Cultural Wisdom is preserved: We must bridge the gap between ancient values—like Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family)—and modern innovation.
We are currently looking into the "AI Mirror." As algorithms begin to shape our choices and narratives, we must be relentless in embedding human-centric ethics into every line of code.
Transparency: We must demand accountability from those who control global narratives.
Empathy by Design: Technology must be designed to foster compassion and understanding, rather than amplifying our differences.
Finally, let us remember that peace is more than the absence of war. It is a proactive state of harmony.
Peace with Nature: Our values must extend to the environment. We cannot claim to value human life while destroying the planet that sustains it.
Solidarity: In 2026, global military spending has reached record highs. Imagine the world we could build if even a fraction of those resources were redirected towards fighting poverty and fostering education.
The future does not belong to the most powerful machines, but to the most compassionate hearts. Let us resolve today to get our priorities straight: People and Planet over Pain.
Let us move forward with the courage to act on our values, ensuring that the progress of 2026 is measured not just by our GDP or our processing power, but by the dignity and peace we afford to every human being.

Prof. (Dr.) Jayadev KarRespected, distinguished faculty members, dear colleagues, and my lovely, dear students, Good morning to all of you and a very happy 77th Republic Day.
Today, as the tricolour rises high and the National Anthem fills the air, we are reminded that the Republic of India was not born merely on 26th January 1950, but through the courage, sacrifice and vision of countless individuals who believed in a better tomorrow—even when the odds were overwhelming.
Our Constitution is not just a legal document. It is a promise.
A promise of equality, opportunity, responsibility, and dignity.
And that promise rests today, more than ever, on your shoulders, dear students.
You are studying in a time when India is transforming rapidly—economically, technologically, and socially. We are witnessing India’s rise as a global voice, a digital leader, a startup hub, and an innovation powerhouse. But let me say this very clearly:
👉 A nation does not become great because of policies alone. As students, you may sometimes feel pressure—pressure to perform, to compete, to succeed quickly. That is natural. But remember this:
The goal is not just to get ahead in life, but to take others along with you.India needs professionals who:
Think independentlyWhether you become managers, entrepreneurs, civil servants, researchers, or educators—ask yourself one simple question every day:
“How am I contributing to my mother India of tomorrow?”On this Republic Day, I urge you to:
Be disciplined in your effortsDream big, work hard, fail bravely, learn constantly—but never forget your roots and your responsibility to this nation. Let us pledge today to uphold the values of our Constitution not just in words, but in action. Let us strive to make India not only a powerful nation, but a just, inclusive, and enlightened one.
I am confident that the students of IIMT Bhubaneswar will not just participate in India’s growth story—you will lead it.
Jay Jagannath
Jai Hind.
Jai Bharat.
Happy Republic Day to all.
As we come together to celebrate the auspicious festival of Durga Puja, I extend my warmest wishes to all our faculty members, staff, and students. This festival is not only a time of joy and devotion but also a reminder of the timeless values of strength, wisdom, and resilience that Maa Durga embodies.
Just as Maa Durga inspires us to triumph over challenges, let us also channel her spirit in our journey of academic and institutional excellence. Each one of you plays a vital role in shaping the growth and progress of our college. Your dedication, creativity, and commitment are the true pillars that will help us reach greater heights.
In this festive season, let us renew our collective energy and reaffirm our vision of making our institution a center of innovation, learning, and holistic development. Together, with courage and determination, we can overcome every obstacle and move closer to building a future that empowers not only our students but also the community we serve.
May this Durga Puja bring happiness, prosperity, and new opportunities for all. Let the divine blessings of Maa Durga inspire us to dream bigger, work harder, and achieve excellence in every endeavor.
Wishing you and your families a blessed and joyful Durga Puja.

Prof. (Dr.) Jayadev KarRespected Chairman Sir, esteemed members of the faculty, dear staff, my beloved students and distinguished guests, on this proud morning of our 79th Independence Day, as the tricolour soars high in the golden light of August, we gather not just as members of an institution, but as citizens of a great nation united by a shared history and a shared dream. Seventy-nine years ago, the soil of India bore witness to unparalleled courage—millions marched with determination, endured struggle, and embraced sacrifice so that we might inherit the gift of freedom. That freedom was not given; it was earned through unity, conviction, and the unwavering belief that generations yet to come deserved dignity and self-determination.
Today, as a young and growing institution, we too find ourselves at the threshold of a new dawn, much like India did in 1947, tasked with building from the foundation of vision, values and dedication. Under the wise guidance of our respected Chairman Sir, we are shaping IIMT into a temple of learning where knowledge is not only imparted but lived. To my faculty and staff, you are the guiding light who nurture talent and character with devotion. To my beloved students, you are the inheritors of this legacy—your potential extends beyond personal success to the service of society and the shaping of India’s future. Let us remember that freedom is not merely the right to live as we choose, but the responsibility to live in a way that uplifts, inspires, and empowers others. At IIMT, we pledge to build not only professionals of skill but also citizens of character, where our classrooms become spaces of dialogue, our laboratories hubs of innovation, and our campus a living symbol of democracy and unity. On this Independence Day, let us renew our commitment to hold the tricolour not only high above us but deep within us, ensuring that our actions honour the sacrifices of our forefathers and our achievements become the pride of generations yet to come.
